The national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State have hailed a retired permanent secretary in the state, Lady Oluranti Odutola, for her meritorious service and smooth running of the public service.
Tinubu, who was represented by Prof. Adebayo Williams at the public lecture and book presentation held at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers in Ikeja, Lagos on Wednesday to commemorate Odutola’s retirement from the public service, called on civil servants in the South-West to emulate her by documenting their experiences in the service of their various states.
He also expressed the hope that Odutola’s example would serve as a benchmark for future generations of public servants in Lagos State.
In his goodwill message, Ambode, also was represented by the Permanent secretary in the state’s Ministry of Information, Mr. Fola Adeyemi, commended Odutola for her contribution to the development of public policy and implementation in Lagos State as well as for leaving the service without blemish.
Urging other civil servants in the state to leave public service better than they found it, he said, “Many others started this race together with Odutola, but they left without legacies. I urge young officers in the state civil service to emulate the dynamism which she has demonstrated by putting together this memoir.”
The event, which also featured a keynote address by Prof. Olu Obafemi, had in attendance important personalities, such as Rt. Rev Isaac Olaoye, a former Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Lagos State, Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele; Rt. Rev M.O. Akinwale and a former Accountant-General of Lagos, Mr. David Sunmonu, among others.
