The Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday confirmed the appointment of Fouad Oki and Kabir Abdullahi as Director-General and the Chief Executive of Lagos State Safety Commission and the Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission respectively.
The nominees had told the lawmakers that they hoped to contribute their quotas to the development of the state.
Oki promised to provide safety for homes, schools, factories and motorways, just as Abdullahi said the water regulatory commission needed new thinking to reach the next level, which he hoped to provide.
Legislators, who spoke on the appointee’s achievements, said they had served the state well.
One of them, Dayo Fafunmi, said,“The appointees have demonstrated to us that they are technocrats because they are capable of the task ahead.”
Another member of the Assembly, Gbolahan Yishawu, observed that the appointees were “professional administrators. We need people like them for the development of the state”.
The Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, subsequently directed the Clerk of the House, Ganiyu Abiru, to notify the governor about the confirmation.
