Former internationals, Emeka Ezeugo and Joe Erico, have said the Super Eagles will get better with more matches.
The Eagles defeated the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon 3-0 in their friendly game in Belgium on Sunday, four days after losing 2-0 to DR Congo in the European nation.
Former Eagles midfielder Ezeugo told our correspondent that the Eagles would improve with more matches.
“It is a good performance they showed against Cameroon, who are Nigeria’s rivals any day but there is more the coach (Sunday Oliseh) needs to do in the team,” he said.
“This team still have a long way to go to match the standard expected by the fans. If they avoid distractions, they will do well. They were distracted in their first match, hence they lost. But it is good they bounced back from the defeat against DR Congo to beat Cameroon.”
Former Eagles assistant coach, Erico, believes that coach Oliseh has more work to do in the team.
He said, “Oliseh is the coach of the team and he would have observed a lot in the players that played on Sunday – and the ones that played the other matches, especially the one against DR Congo.
“There are a few areas that need to be worked on in the team such as the finishing and some aspect of the midfield. But in all they will get better with subsequent matches.
“The team showed hunger to play in the match against Cameroon and if that is sustained, they will grow stronger with each match they play.”
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation on Monday called for fans to be patient with Oliseh.
The NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi said, “There is a need for people to be patient with the manager because Rome was not built in a day.”
