The Federal Government has deployed officials of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission to major airports across the country in a bid to check corruption at the various facilities.
It specifically stated that it had installed the agency’s CCTV cameras at the airports to help detect corrupt officers.
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Aviation, Mrs. Binta Bello, stated that the initiative was to engender growth, confidence and transparency in the aviation industry, as it was imperative to collaborate with the ICPC to effectively reduce the incidents of corruption in the sector.
Bello, in a statement issued by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority on Sunday, said the Federal Ministry of Aviation, ICPC and the United Nations Development Programme had unanimously agreed to take concerted efforts to exterminate corruption from the aviation industry.
According to her, the fight against corrupt practices at the airport was made possible by signing the Memorandum of Understanding between the ministry and anti-corruption agency in 2014.
