The Garden City of Port Harcourt came alive last Sunday as Globacom serenaded the residents with the best of jokes at the company’s flagship comedy show, Glo Laffta Fest.
Kicking off with the local comedians such as Sammie Wonder, Senator, MP2, B1, MC Bentenson, and Prince Hezekiah, all the artistes on parade for the night gave very good accounts of themselves, as they held the audience spell-bound throughout the show.
With the superlative performance by the Port Harcourt-based artistes came the comedy superstars such as Funny Bone and Salvador of Uganda, who thrilled the guests to no end with jokes ranging from the grandiose to the best of buffoonery.
Port Harcourt-born comedian, Julius Agwu, came in a grand style as he was ushered onto the stage with the song, Port Harcourt Boy. He recounted his experience in the United States where he went for brain surgery and thanked Globacom for giving him the opportunity to perform before his own people again.
Agwu drew a huge emotional response from the crowd when he said that at a point, he was not sure if he would make it back to Port Harcourt alive. He profusely thanked Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr. and Globacom management for their support.
Basket Mouth, who anchored the show, was simply at his best as he gave out Glo recharge cards generously to members of the audience who were fast enough to load the digits in the ‘Fastest Finger contest’.
One of the highpoints of the event was Salvador’s introduction. A deafening cheer from the audience ushered him on stage as he cracked hilarious jokes that left several guests with teary eyes.
Earlier, before Salvador performed, the synergy between DJ Jimmy Jatt and Glo ambassador, Korede Bello had taken the show to its highest crescendo as the youngster mingled and interacted vwith his teeming fans while he performed his hit track, Godwin. The duo of Nollywood actors, Chiwetalu Agu and Bishop Okon added spice to the show by making cameo appearances on stage. The hall erupted in deafening applause as Funny Bone and Basket Mouth introduced the duo.
However, Wande Coal brought the show to a glorious end with a superlative and energetic performance.
