I’m to transform police college – Mbu

Controversial Assistant Inspector General of Police, Mr. Joseph Mbu, on Monday assumed office as Commandant of the Police Staff College, Jos, in Plateau State, dismissing speculation that he has been eased out of the Force.
He also dispelled rumours that his posting to the college was punitive,  pledging to do his best to transform the college in all aspects.
Mbu, who spoke while answering questions from journalists after his resumption, said, “I am still in the Police Force and I was not posted to Jos on a punishment.

“I was posted to Jos to come and transform the college. I did not resume early because I was on leave.  I am still a serving police officer and I love my job; I do my job like a professional and while working, I do not know wife, brother or friend. I am proud to be a Police officer.

“This college is the highest police training institution in the country and it is a privilege to be posted here. Our Inspector General has promised to ensure that training is his priority and that’s why I was posted to help transform the college.

Mbu, who was at different times Commissioner of Police in Oyo and Rivers states as well as the Federal Capital Territory, promised to build confidence in the men of the Police College and defend policemen as long as they were doing the right thing.
