The Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command says it has arrested about 40 persons from black spots in the state.
The suspects were said to be hemp smokers, robbers, and miscreants roaming the Oshodi, Jibowu, Mile 2, Ajegunle and Ijora areas, among others.
Our correspondent gathered that ages of the suspects ranged from 17 to 50 years.
The RRS said the exercise was an onslaught against the criminally-minded people to ensure a secured environment for residents and visitors in the state.
The RRS Commander, ACP Olatunji Disu, said the arrest would be continuous until the areas were entirely freed from the activities of criminals.
He said, “We are ready to calm the latest upsurge in crime in the state. The governor has given us an order to comb the black spots. We were able to arrest 40 suspects during a raid on suspected hideouts in Oshodi, Jibowu, Victoria Island and Mile 2, among others.
“The arrest will be continuous, as the government is determined to rid the state of criminals and create an enabling environment for residents and business owners.”
