Police summon KWAM-1 over shooting of OOU student

The Ogun State Police Command has invited popular Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde, aka KWAM-1, K-1 De Ultimate, over the shooting of a female Business Education student of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ogun State, Kofoworola Azeez.

Kofoworola was reportedly shot in the early hours of Sunday at a musical show in the university town.

It was gathered that a bullet from a gun reportedly fired by a member of the Fuji musician group hit the victim.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, explained that the victim was inside a Honda car parked opposite Limelite Hotel in the town, where KWAM-1 had performed from Saturday night till dawn, when she was hit by the stray bullet.

Adejobi said, “At about 1am on Sunday, October 11, beside NASFAT building, opposite Limelite Hotel, Ago Iwoye, Kofoworola Azeez, while sitting inside an unregistered Honda Accord car, was hit by a bullet shot by a member of King Wasiu Ayinde’s entourage.

“The car belongs to one Hassan Afeez, a member of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. The bullet entered through the right hand side of the rear door of the car and hit the victim in her bottom.”

Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said the victim was taken to the Ijebu Ode General Hospital by the police for treatment.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, had directed that KWAM-1 should be invited for interrogation.

He said, “Before policemen got to the scene, the musician and his team have left the place. But the Commissioner of Police has instructed that KWAM-1 should be invited to tell the police who among his band members pulled the trigger. He is expected to come with the guy that fired the gun.”

However, the owner of Limelite Hotel, Mr. Sesan Rufai, who brought KWAM-1 for the show,, stated that there was no such incident.

He said the show was hitch-free and even eminent personalities attended the show.

Rufai, who spoke with our correspondent on the telephone, said, “There was no such incident to the best of my knowledge. I contracted K1 De Ultimate and some other artistes. The musical show went fine.”

Efforts to reach K1 on the matter proved abortive. The telephone line of his manager, Bayo Olasoju, rang out. Copyright PUNCH.
