MASSOB raises alarm over plot to embark on extra judicial killing of members

The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, (MASSOB) has raised the alarm over plans by security operatives to embark on extra judicial killing of its members.

This was disclosed by Anambra North Coordina­tor of MASSOB, Emman­uel Omenka, while briefing newsmen. Omenka said the plot became rife immedi­ately after the release of 48 members arrested during the celebration of the 16th an­niversary of the existence of the movement.

Omenka who is also the Personal Assistant to MAS­SOB leader, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, said “the se­curity operatives, especially the police were annoyed that the Umuahia court granted 48 detained members bail and now plan to kill us in the night or any time they arrest our members since the court has disappointed them by not jailing those arrested dur­ing the celebration of our 16 years of existence.”

The coordinator who was flanked by the Director of Information of the group, Charles Igbokwe, revealed that out of the 48 released members, 42 were arrested from Anambra state while six were from Imo state.

He said, “We are still looking for the whereabouts of one member, Christopher Nwafor who was wearing MASSOB uniform during the celebration day. The po­lice should tell us his where­abouts”.

Meanwhile, the MASSOB Religious Director in Onitsha North, Rev. Pastor G.A Ezi­chukwu has condemned in its totality the attack and the arrest of the members during the 16th anniversary thanks­giving in various churches in the Southeast, saying that the security agencies commit­ted sacrilege by going to the church to disturb worshipers.

He said that there was condemnation of those who go to God’s house to kill and arrest, noting that the police and Army will definitely pay for what they have done in the church of God.

According to him, “church is a place of refuge (Deut. 4:41), MASSOB is religious; for good, it is not abomina­tion for somebody to seek or ask for his right. Uwazurike has been anointed by late Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu to carry on with the zeal to actualize Biafra state. They have been trying to take the life of Uwazuruike so that there will be no MASSOB or to actualize the state of Bi­afra. They cannot kill Uwa­zuruike and Biafra will not die until it is achieved”.
