Publisher of the Millennium Development Goals Global magazine, Chuks Nwoko, has hailed philanthropist couple, Bill and Melinda Gates; business investor, Tony Elumelu; and a Cable News Network anchor, Isha Sesay, among others, for contributing to the development of Nigeria.
Nwoko, in a statement, noted that in 2000, former President Olusegun Obasanjo signed the MDGs protocol inside the “hallowed chamber” of the United Nations on behalf of Nigerians.
“As the 2015 deadline for the MDGs approaches and with the initiation of a new campaign mantra, MDG Global Magazine will hold its 8th award ceremony on Thursday, October 1, 2015 in the Banquet Hall of Lagos Sheraton. Uniquely, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo will be the chairman of the event,” he said.
The activist noted that prominent Nigerians like Tony Elumelu, Leo Ekeh, and Olufunke Fadugba would be honoured at the occasion alongside the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Isha Sesay and Nima El Bagir, also of the CNN.
According to Nwoko, the listed individuals have played very unique roles in the different objectives of the MDGs ranging from poverty reduction and health-related issues to education, youth empowerment and social investment.
