The Independent National Electoral Commission has approved 50 groups to observe the forthcoming Kogi and Bayelsa governorship elections.
The elections are scheduled for Saturday, November 21 and Saturday December 5, 2015 respectively.
A letter signed by the Director of Elections and Party Monitoring Department, Mr Bala Shittu, indicated that 43 out of the approved 50 organizations are domestic, while seven are foreign.
Shittu said the approved groups were to obtain, complete and return Form EPMC 002 for the two elections from the Elections and Party Monitoring Department, INEC Headquarters, Maitama, Abuja, between 8.00am and 4.00pm from October 2 to 23, 2015.
The Commission emphasised that ‘late submission will not be entertained’.
Shittu said the dates for distribution of Observer kits in the two states would be communicated in due course, adding that further enquiries should be directed to the Director, Elections and Party Monitoring Department.
Among the accredited groups are the British High Commission, European Union, African Union, National Democratic Initiative, Women Arise for Change Initiative, Noble Leadership and Mofeus Foundation.
Also listed are Gamji Members, Police Service Commission, Election Monitors, CLEEN Foundation and Alliance for Credible Elections.
