The Permanent Secretary, Federal Capital Territory, John Chukwu on Monday summoned an emergency security meeting to brainstorm on last Friday multiple bomb attacks in Kuje and Nyanya, suburbs of Abuja.
Speaking at the meeting which was attended by all the heads of military formation in the FCT, Chukwu called for intensified surveillance in and around the FCT in order to avert a recurrence of the unfortunate incidents.
He noted that it was normal for security agencies to take proactive measures to reduce any possibility of security breach in the FCT and called for continued collaboration among the security agencies.
Chukwu reminded members of the security committee of the need to share intelligence so as to nip in the bud any form of crime or criminality, promising that the FCT Administration would always support the security agencies to ease their operation.
“Such intensified surveillance all over the place would ensure that we are not taken unawares because the security of lives and property remains on the front burner for the government,” he stated.
The Permanent Secretary directed the Area Council Chairmen to resuscitate and strengthen their security committees.
He admonished community leaders to know new comers in their communities and urged residents to be security-conscious, vigilant and to report any suspicious persons or movement to security agents.
