Russian military jets carried out 15 new sorties Monday, targeting 10 Islamic State targets, the defence ministry said.
“Su-34, Su-24M and Su-25 carried out 15 sorties from the Hmeimim airbase in the afternoon,” the ministry said in a statement, adding that 10 facilities had been struck.
Russia said one of its warplanes had briefly entered Turkish air space at the weekend due to bad weather conditions, after the incident sparked concern in Ankara and the West.
“This incident is a result of unfavourable weather conditions,” the defence ministry said in a statement. “There is no need to look for some conspiracy theories.”
