He was reported to have held talks with officials of the Nigeria Football Federation who are keen on having him as a replacement for Sunday Oliseh who left his post as Super Eagles head coach last week.
"Micho is well loved in Uganda and the Cranes have done well under him. FUFA have said they will hold on to him and their is the possibility of them increasing his pay," a source in Kampala informed Completesportsnigeria.com.
"Before Nigeria, Cameroon were also interested in him. The good thing is that he is still under contract with us which makes it difficult for any of these big countries to take him away.
"We have a good chance of qualifying for Gabon 2017 and there is no reason for him to leave."
Uganda top Group D in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier ahead of Burkina Faso, Comoros and Botswana.
They will host Burkina Faso in their next fixture at the Namboole Stadium in March.
